Proprietary methodology notice: The specific factors, signals, weights, formulas, thresholds, and calculation logic used in ClickUpLocal Scores are proprietary trade secrets of ClickUpLocal, LLC and are not disclosed here or elsewhere. This page explains what the scores represent, not how they are precisely calculated.

What are ClickUpLocal Scores?

ClickUpLocal Scores are algorithmically generated metrics that give residents a clear, honest snapshot of a local business's online reputation, digital visibility, and overall community trust. Scores are calculated using publicly available data only. There is no advertising influence and no pay-to-play factors.

Each score is expressed on a 0 to 100 scale, where higher is better.

Data sources

ClickUpLocal Scores are calculated using publicly available data only. We do not use private consumer data, internal platform analytics, or any data that requires your authorization to access. We do not have access to your private account data on any third-party platform.

How often scores update

Scores are recalculated periodically at ClickUpLocal's discretion. The frequency may vary based on data availability and platform changes. Scores may also change as a result of algorithm updates, independent of any change in a business's underlying public data.

How to improve your score

You cannot pay to improve your ClickUpLocal Score. That said, businesses that score well consistently share a few traits. Focusing on these areas will build a stronger digital presence over time.

Build your public reputation

An active, growing base of genuine customer reviews matters. Ask satisfied customers for honest feedback and respond to every review professionally.

Establish a consistent presence

Accurate, up-to-date information across directories and your own web properties signals credibility to both algorithms and customers.

Stay active online

Businesses with no recent verifiable digital activity signal to both algorithms and customers that something may be off. Consistent activity matters.

Use your Business Dashboard

ClickUpLocal's paid tools are built around reputation management, review generation, Google Business Profile optimization, and listing sync across directories.

What Are ClickUpLocal Scores?

ClickUpLocal Scores are algorithmically generated metrics that give residents a quick, honest snapshot of a local business’s online reputation, digital visibility, and overall community trust. Scores are calculated using publicly available data — no advertising influence and no pay-to-play factors.

The three scores are:

  1. Reputation Score — Reflects what the community publicly says about your business
  2. Local Presence Score — Reflects how findable, credible, and active your business is online
  3. ClickUpLocal Score — A composite of the above two scores; the primary score displayed on your listing

Each score is expressed on a 0–100 scale, where higher is better.

The factors and signals our algorithm evaluates are numerous, varied, and not fully disclosed. Nothing on this page should be interpreted as a complete or exhaustive description of how scores are calculated.

What Each Score Represents

Reputation Score

The Reputation Score reflects the overall quality and volume of your business’s public reputation signals — primarily derived from publicly visible review platforms. A higher score generally indicates a business with a strong, active, and positive public reputation. A lower score may reflect limited review history, negative public sentiment, or other reputation-related signals.

Local Presence Score

The Local Presence Score reflects how well-established, findable, and active your business is across the broader digital landscape — including your web presence, directory listings, social media, and other publicly visible signals. A higher score generally indicates a business that is easy to find, consistently represented, and actively maintained online. A lower score may reflect gaps in digital presence, inconsistent information, or inactivity across public channels.

ClickUpLocal Score

The ClickUpLocal Score is a composite of your Reputation Score and Local Presence Score. It is the primary score displayed on your listing and represents your overall digital standing in the community.

Data Sources

ClickUpLocal Scores are calculated using publicly available data only. We do not use private consumer data, internal platform analytics, or any data that requires your authorization to access. Our data is drawn from publicly accessible sources across the web. We do not have access to your private account data on any third-party platform.

How Often Scores Update

Scores are recalculated periodically at ClickUpLocal’s discretion. The frequency may vary based on data availability, platform changes, and other operational factors. Score refresh timing is approximate and not guaranteed. Scores may also change as a result of algorithm updates, independent of any change in a business’s underlying public data.

How to Improve Your Score

You cannot pay to improve your ClickUpLocal Score. Our algorithm evaluates many factors and there is no single action that will reliably move it. That said, businesses that score well consistently share a few traits — and focusing on these areas will improve your standing over time.

Build and maintain your public reputation. An active, growing base of genuine customer reviews matters. So does the quality and depth of what customers say about you. Asking satisfied customers for honest feedback, responding to every review — positive and negative — and resolving complaints professionally are foundational habits that reflect well publicly regardless of any scoring system.

Establish a credible, consistent digital presence. Being easy to find and trust online means having accurate, up-to-date information across directories and your own web properties, a professional website, and active engagement across the platforms where your customers look for you. Inconsistent or outdated information across the web is one of the most common and correctable reasons businesses score lower than they should.

Stay active. Businesses with no recent verifiable digital activity — no fresh reviews, no updated content, no active social presence — signal to both algorithms and customers that something may be off. Consistent activity across your digital presence matters.

Use your Business Dashboard. ClickUpLocal’s paid tools are built around exactly these areas — reputation management, review generation, Google Business Profile optimization, listing sync across directories, and more. Businesses using these tools as intended are naturally building the kind of genuine digital presence that performs well over time. Claim your listing to get started.

Attempting to manufacture or artificially inflate any scoring signal is a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy and may result in score penalties or account action.

Important Disclaimers

Scores are informational only and constitute protected opinion. ClickUpLocal Scores are generated by algorithms analyzing publicly available data. They represent ClickUpLocal’s algorithmic interpretation and commentary on that publicly available information. As such, scores constitute protected opinion and expression — not statements of verifiable fact — and should be understood in that context. They are not professional assessments, endorsements, certifications, guarantees, or recommendations by ClickUpLocal. Residents should use scores as one of many factors when evaluating a business.

Proprietary methodology and trade secrets. The ClickUpLocal scoring system — including its specific factors, signals, weights, formulas, thresholds, calculation logic, and overall design — constitutes proprietary trade secrets of ClickUpLocal, LLC. ClickUpLocal is not obligated to disclose any aspect of how scores are calculated. Nothing on this page constitutes a complete or binding description of the scoring methodology. ClickUpLocal may update its algorithm, factors, data sources, or methodology at any time without notice.

Prohibition on reverse engineering and competitive imitation. The ClickUpLocal scoring framework is protected intellectual property. Any attempt to reverse engineer, systematically probe, replicate, or imitate ClickUpLocal’s scoring system — including through repeated score testing, automated queries, or competitive analysis intended to reproduce a materially similar scoring product — is strictly prohibited and may constitute misappropriation of trade secrets under California law (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 3426–3426.11) and the federal Defend Trade Secrets Act (18 U.S.C. § 1836 et seq.), as well as unfair competition under California Business and Professions Code § 17200.

Score manipulation prohibited. Artificially inflating any signal used in scoring — including through incentivized, purchased, or fake reviews; manufactured social media activity; bot-generated engagement; coordinated inauthentic behavior; or any other deceptive tactic — is a violation of ClickUpLocal’s Acceptable Use Policy and may result in score penalties, score suppression, account suspension, or removal from the platform. ClickUpLocal reserves the right to investigate suspected manipulation and to adjust, suppress, or invalidate scores at its sole discretion where manipulation is suspected, without prior notice.

No commercial influence. ClickUpLocal Scores are not influenced by advertising spend, subscription tier, or any commercial relationship with ClickUpLocal. Claiming or upgrading your listing unlocks platform features but does not affect your score calculation.

Data accuracy. Our scores depend on the accuracy of publicly available third-party data. ClickUpLocal is not responsible for errors in data from third-party sources.

Algorithmic limitations. No algorithm perfectly captures business quality or community trust. Scores are useful signals, not definitive judgments.

Right to withhold or remove scores. ClickUpLocal reserves the right to withhold, suspend, or remove a score for any listing at any time, for any reason, at its sole discretion — including but not limited to data quality concerns, suspected manipulation, platform changes, or operational decisions. The absence of a score for any listing does not imply any finding or characterization of that business.

No reliance on scores for business decisions. ClickUpLocal Scores are informational signals only. They are not intended to be used — and should not be used — as the basis for any operational, financial, legal, investment, hiring, or other business decision by any party. ClickUpLocal expressly disclaims any liability arising from reliance on scores for any such purpose.

Third-party republication. ClickUpLocal Scores and the ClickUpLocal scoring system are the proprietary intellectual property of ClickUpLocal, LLC. You may not reproduce, publish, embed, or display a ClickUpLocal Score in any external marketing material, advertisement, website, or third-party platform without prior written authorization from ClickUpLocal. Any score you reference in connection with your business reflects a point-in-time calculation and may have changed. ClickUpLocal makes no representation regarding the accuracy of any score as republished by a third party, and assumes no liability for any use of scores outside the Platform.

Requesting a Score Review

If you believe your score contains a material error due to incorrect underlying data being pulled from a public source, contact us at support@clickuplocal.com with a description of the specific data you believe is inaccurate and any supporting documentation.
Score review requests are evaluated at ClickUpLocal’s discretion. We can correct errors in our data processing but do not adjust scores based on subjective disagreements with algorithmic outputs.
